In Cameroon, particularly in urban hubs like Douala and Yaoundé, the volume of electronic waste is surging due to rapid urbanization. However, much of the cable granulation process is still handled by informal sectors using hazardous burning methods to extract copper, leading to severe air pollution and health risks.
The tropical climate of Cameroon, characterized by high humidity and heavy rainfall, accelerates the degradation of stored cable scrap. This creates an urgent need for a robust cable granulator machine that can operate reliably in humid conditions without compromising the purity of the recovered copper.
Economically, there is a significant gap between the available scrap copper and the capacity to process it locally.
